Nov. 13, 2012 Iron Mountain plans to relocate its HQ to One Federal St. in BostonIron Mountain, an information-management and archiving company, plans to relocate to One Federal St. in Boston, said Tishman Speyer, the real estate firm that includes One Federal in its portfolio. Iron Mountain has signed an 11-year lease for more than 129,000 square feet at One Federal, Tishman Speyer said Tuesday. Iron Mountain is currently located at 745 Atlantic Ave., which is near Boston’s South Station. | |||
Martin Baron, editor of The Boston Globe, to become editor of The Washington PostMartin Baron, the editor of The Boston Globe who oversaw the news organization when it won six Pulitzer Prizes over the past decade, will become the executive editor of The Washington Post in January, both papers said Tuesday. The Globe will launch a national search to fill Baron’s job, said Christopher M. Mayer, publisher of the Globe. While citing the talent within the newsroom, he said he would also consider outside candidates. Mayer said his goal is to fill the position as quickly as possible. | |||

Mass. gas prices fall 4 cents a gallon, AAA saysThe average price for gas in Massachusetts is $3.619 a gallon in the latest weekly AAA survey, down 4 cents from the previous week’s average, AAA Southern New England said Tuesday. The average has fallen 22 cents over the past month, AAA Southern New England added. The current national average for gas is $3.44 a gallon; a year ago at this time, the Massachusetts average was $3.39. | |||
Activate Networks, a network analytics firm, closes $10m Series B financing roundActivate Networks Inc., a Newton-based provider of network analytics for business, said Tuesday that it has closed a $10 million Series B financing round led by Reed Elsevier Ventures, along with existing investor Excel Venture Management and new investor Premier healthcare alliance. By mapping networks of customers and analyzing influence patterns, Activate Networks said it is able to increase sales effectiveness and efficiency through improved sales targeting optimization. | |||
TJX: 3Q net sales rose 11 percentTJX Cos., the Framingham-based retailer that operates such off-price chains as T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods, said Tuesday that third-quarter net sales rose 11 percent to $6.4 billion from a year ago and because of its “strong momentum,” the company added that it is raising full-year guidance. Net income for the quarter was $462 million versus $406 million last year. Diluted earnings per share were 62 cents, up 17 percent; that increase was “above plan,” TJX said. | |||
Wilmington lighting plant to closeCompany officials say a Wilmington plant that makes fluorescent light fixtures is scheduled to close within the next six to nine months. Workers at the Lightolier plant were informed of the closure Friday. It has not been determined what will happen with the jobs of the nearly 250 employees, many of whom are unionized. | |||
Alnylam settles litigation with Tekmira, restructures licensing agreementAlnylam Pharmaceuticals Inc., a Cambridge company looking to develop therapeutics based on RNA interference, said Monday night that it has restructured its relationship with Tekmira Pharmaceuticals Corp. of Canada with a new licensing agreement; it added that the two companies have resolved all litigation between them in a settlement agreement. In a press release, Tekmira said it will receive $65 million within 10 days and is eligible to receive $10 million in near-term milestone payments expected to be received in 2013, as a result of the restructuring and new agreements. | |||
Akamai agrees to buy VerivueAkamai Technologies Inc., the Cambridge company that runs a massive worldwide content delivery network, has agreed to buy Verivue of Westford, the two companies said Tuesday. The press release issued by the companies did not include a purchase price, but described the planned deal as a “cash transaction” that is expected close by the end of the year. Verivue has about 60 employees. The planned deal will allow Akamai to accelerate its timetable for providing licensed content delivery network solutions. | |||
Staples survey: More workers refuse to take days off when they get the fluYou might think that with the economy improving and with so much technology available for telecommuting, that more workers would stay home more when they get sick, but that doesn’t seem to be the case, according to a new survey from Staples Inc., the Framingham-based office supply giant. Nearly 80 percent of the survey’s respondents said they come to work even when sick, an increase of 20 percent from a year ago. | |||

A recent Dunkin’ Facebook promotion asked fans to submit videos imitating the Gronk’s signature touchdown spike move. Winners have been invited to meet Gronkowski at Gillette Stadium Tuesday.
