Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Aaron Kushner, the Wellesley businessman who made part of his wealth in greeting cards, and the 2100 Trust, a group of former newspaper executives, earlier this year tried to buy Maine’s largest newspaper company, including the Portland Press Herald, but talks collapsed. | |||

1366 Technologies is relocating to Alexandria Park1366 Technologies is relocating to larger space at Alexandria Park in Bedford, said the park’s operator, Alexandria Real Estate Equities Inc. 1366 Technologies is developing a technology that aims to significantly cut the cost of silicon wafers used in solar panels. With roughly 40 employees, the company currently occupies about 16,000 square feet of space in Lexington. In the fall, it plans to move into just over 41,000 square feet of space in the section of Alexandria Park that is located in Bedford. | |||
Green Mountain falls as Kroger plans private-label coffee podsGreen Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc., the maker of Keurig one-cup brewing machines and coffee pods, fell the most in more than five weeks after Kroger Co. said it will sell private-label coffee pods for the devices. Kroger Co, the largest US operator of grocery stores, plans to sell its own version of the pods used in Green Mountain’s Keurig single-cup brewers later this year. Green Mountain, based in Waterbury, Vt., will face a growing private-label challenge from groceries when its K-Cup patents expire in September. | |||
Mass. gas prices drop another 8 centsThe average price for gas in Massachusetts is $3.489 a gallon in the latest weekly survey from AAA, down 8 cents from the previous week’s average, AAA Southern New England said Monday. This was the eighth consecutive week of Bay State price declines. Prices locally are now 41 cents less than the peak gas prices seen in mid April, AAA Southern New England said. A year ago at this time, the Massachusetts average price was $3.71 a gallon. | |||
Cubist unveils five-year goalsCubist Pharmaceuticals Inc., a Lexington company known for the bloodstream infection drug Cubicin, said Monday that it plans to generate $2 billion in global annual revenue in 2017, driven largely by organic growth. By the end of 2017, Cubist said that it expects that sales for Cubicin will well exceed $1 billion in the United States alone. Lawler from his role as president and chief executive, effective immediately upon the appointment of a new chief executive. Two Vertex executives are stepping downVertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. said Friday that its chief legal officer and chief commercial officer are leaving the company.
