Aug. 06, 2012 Nexage increases Series B financing to $15mNexage, a Waltham-based mobile advertising exchange, said Monday that it closed an additional $5 million in funding from Hearst Interactive Media. With that investment, Hearst joins SingTel Innov8, Relay Ventures, and GrandBanks Capital in Nexage’s Series B round, and the round now totals $15 million. According to industry statistics, the mobile advertising market is expected to grow to $20.6 billion by 2015. | |||

Deal to sell Salem power plant closes; new gas plant and development plannedA New Jersey company said Monday that it has finalized its purchase of the aging Salem Harbor Power Station, which it plans to replace with a state-of-the-art gas-fired plant on a portion the site, potentially opening the rest of the waterfront property to commercial development. Footprint Power LLC said the deal to buy the decades-old plant from Virginia-based Dominion Energy Inc. for an undisclosed sum closed Saturday. | |||
Zimmer wins Genzyme patent trial over knee-arthritis treatmentZimmer Holdings and Seikagaku Corp. won a US patent-infringement trial brought by Sanofi’s Genzyme over a treatment for arthritis in the knee. A federal jury in Boston said the Gel-One product made by Seikagaku and distributed by Zimmer doesn’t infringe a Genzyme patent for a method to treat arthritic pain in the knee. Genzyme’s Synvisc-One product was the only single-injection treatment approved by US regulators until Gel-One was given clearance. The injection of a hyaluronic acid gel provides pain relief for as long as six months, Cambridge-based Genzyme said. | |||
Mass. gas prices rise 3 cents a gallonThe average price for gas in Massachusetts is $3.589 a gallon in the latest weekly AAA survey, up 3 cents from the previous week’s average, AAA Southern New England said Monday. Local prices have risen 20 cents over the past month, AAA Southern New England said. The current national average is $3.61 a gallon. A year ago at this time, the Massachusetts average price was $3.73. | |||
DRC wins $13m contractDynamics Research Corp., an Andover company that provides consulting, engineering, and technology services to federal and state governments, said Monday that it has been awarded a $13 million contract to support unmanned aircraft systems support. Advent agrees to buy Ares’ AOT, maker of Serta mattressesAdvent International Corp., the Boston-based leveraged buyout firm founded by Peter Brooke, agreed to buy a majority stake in AOT Bedding Super Holdings, the maker of Serta and Simmons mattresses. The transaction values the mattress company at about $3 billion including debt, said a person with knowledge of the matter. The purchase is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter, Advent said in a statement sent by e-mail that didn’t disclose terms. | |||

Hood Blimp is set to return to air space above Fenway ParkHP Hood LLC, a brand known for such dairy products as ice cream, announced Friday that its signature Hood Blimp is about to take to the skies over Fenway Park for the first time since 2008. Weather permitting, plans call for the airborne icon to be aloft for Saturday evening’s scheduled game between the Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins.
