Massachusetts is again the top state on an energy efficiency scorecardMassachusetts is once again number one on a list that ranks states by their energy efficiency initiatives. The State Energy Efficiency Scorecard is compiled by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit group advocating energy efficiency policies. This is the sixth year that the group has released a scorecard. And this is the second time that Massachusetts has held the top spot. Merrimack Pharmaceuticals is taking more space at One Kendall Square in CambridgeMerrimack Pharmaceuticals Inc. has signed a lease for a bit less than 110,000 square feet of space at One Kendall Square in Cambridge, said a broker involved in the transaction. The broker is Colliers International, which represented Merrimack in the lease negotiations. The lease represents a 25,000 square foot expansion for Merrimack. Direct Air carrier fined $300,000A carrier operating flights for Direct Air, the sole carrier at Worcester Regional Airport until it shut down in March, has been fined $300,000 by the US Department of Transportation for violating rules to protect passengers when public charter flights are canceled at the last minute. Xtra Airways, based in Boise, Idaho, stopped flying charters for Direct Air on March 13, after Direct Air failed to pay Xtra Airways, and many passengers were stranded at airports around the country. | |||

Argo Medical of Israel plans to open its US headquarters in MarlboroughArgo Medical Technologies Ltd., an Israeli company that makes exoskeleton devices enabling paraplegics to walk, said Tuesday that it will be opening its US headquarters in Massachusetts and expects to employ up to 40 people here within the next three to five years. TripAdvisor buys WanderflyTripAdvisor Inc. has acquired Wanderfly, a “travel inspiration” site where visitors can select the attributes they want in a trip, such as “beach,” “budget,” and “off the beaten path,” and the site will recommend destinations based on those descriptions. Users can create Pinterest-type boards of cities, bookmarking favorite attractions and restaurants, and other users can view their recommendations.
