New Facebook game allows Sims to run on Dunkin’ joe
Dunkin’ Donuts and Electronic Arts Inc. are collaborating on a version of EA’s Sims Social Facebook game that will allow Sims to “enjoy Dunkin’ Donuts menu items within the game.” For the Canton-based coffee-and-baked goods chain, this is another marketing effort to bond with its customers.

State Street, Stop & Shop gear up for ‘healthy packs’ initiative
State Street Corp., the Boston financial services company, and the Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. said they are part of a group that plans to distribute 2,000 bags of healthful snack options to children in need in Greater Boston.

Springfield approves tough anti-foreclosure laws
The Springfield City Council has passed what advocates are calling the toughest municipal anti-foreclosure legislation in the country. The council voted unanimously to approve an ordinance that requires mortgage lenders to engage in mediation with homeowners facing foreclosure, or face a $300 per day fine.

Would you bring your iPad into the loo?
The emergence of tablet computers such as iPad have taken multi-tasking to a whole new level, a new survey from Staples Inc.’s business-to-business division finds. According to the survey, 35 percent of respondents admitted to using a tablet while in the bathroom. Tablets truly make the workforce more productive, the survey finds.

HFF arranges Landmark Center financing
Holliday Fenoglio Fowler, or HFF, a provider of commercial real estate and capital markets services, said it has arranged $230 million in acquisition financing for Landmark Center, a large retail and office complex located at the confluence of the Longwood Medical Area and the Fenway neighborhood of Boston. Tenants include Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Harvard School of Public Health, and Harvard Medical School, and the retail space is occupied by the likes of Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, REI, and Staples.

Mass. single-family home sales rose 7% in July
Sales of single-family homes in Massachusetts rose 7 percent last month from July 2010, reversing a trend of five consecutive months of year-over-year drops, the Warren Group reported this morning. In today’s sluggish housing market, that might be cause for rejoicing. But the picture is complicated by a temporary home owners tax credit that was in effect for part of 2010.

Construction will begin soon on solar installation project in Westford
A $23 million solar installation off Route 3 in Westford capable of powering more than 600 homes will be built, financed, and operated by a team of Massachusetts firms. Cathartes Private Investments, a Boston development company, is partnering with Nexamp, a North Andover-based solar developer, and will begin constructing the 4.5-megawatt project on 22 acres of industrial land sometime this fall.

Smith & Wollensky moves HQ to the Hub
The steakhouse Smith & Wollensky has moved its corporate headquarters to Boston from Las Vegas, becoming the latest in a string of companies to move into the city.

Allen & Gerritsen moving to Seaport District
Allen & Gerritsen, one of the bigger ad firms in the Boston market, is moving to the city’s Seaport District.

BAE Systems marks thermal weapon sight milestone
BAE Systems, a global defense company with operations in Lexington, said it delivered its 100,000th thermal weapon sight to the US Army in support of military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Local gas falls 2 cents a gallon
The average price for gas in Massachusetts was $3.649 a gallon in the latest weekly AAA survey, down 2 cents a gallon from the previous week’s average, AAA Southern New England said today.
