State Street repositions investment portfolio
State Street Corp., which recently disclosed plans to eliminate 1,400 jobs, said today that it has taken actions to strategically reposition its investment portfolio by selling investment securities of about $11 billion.

EL PASO, Texas -- Consumer products company Helen of Troy Ltd. said Thursday it is buying health care and consumer products provider Kaz Inc. for $260 million.

WALTHAM -- Medical diagnostics company Alere Inc. said its board of directors authorized an initial repurchase of up to $50 million in common or preferred stock.

Massive wind power project proposed for RI
A renewable energy company has proposed what it says would be the largest offshore wind farm in the United States: a 200-turbine, 1,000-megawatt project off the coast of Rhode Island that would provide power to multiple states along the East Coast.
