Oct. 04, 2012 More Americans are paying their credit card bills on time, American Bankers Association saysMore Americans are paying their credit card bills on time than at any point in the past 11 years, according to the American Bankers Association. Credit card delinquencies fell to 2.93 percent in the second quarter, the lowest level since 2001, the group said. The rate is down from 3.08 percent in the first quarter. A credit card account is considered delinquent if it is 30 or more days overdue. | | ||
Sialix is opening an office in Kendall SquareSialix Inc., a company looking to develop cancer and inflammatory disease treatments based on research conducted at the University of California San Diego, is opening an office in Kendall Square and announcing an option agreement with Momenta Pharmaceuticals Inc., a biotechnology company also located in Cambridge. The financial details of the agreement between Sialix and Momenta are not being disclosed, said Sialix CEO Jeff Behrens, who will initially head up a two-person office at Dogpatch Labs, a collaborative workspace in Kendall Square underwritten by Polaris Venture Partners. | |||
Construction to start on new NH wood-burning plantConstruction is expected to start this month on a new wood-burning plant in Concord, N.H. Financing for the $70 million plant by Concord Steam had been uncertain for years. The new plant would replace an aging one on the New Hampshire Hospital campus. The Concord Monitor reports the city and state governments agreed last year to buy power from Concord Steam for at least 10 years. The contracts require the plant to be operational by Jan. 1, 2014. | |||

Lux Research projects global market for carbon fiber composites to more than doubleThe global market for carbon fiber reinforced plastics will more than double to $36 billion in 2020, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 13 percent from $14.6 billion in 2012, Lux Research Inc. said in a report. One reason: Carbon fiber prices are projected to fall by half, said Lux Research, a Boston-based intelligence firm that focuses on emerging technologies.
