iParty agrees to be acquired by Party City for about $11m
iParty Corp., a Dedham-based party goods retail chain of 54 stores, said Friday that it has agreed to be acquired Party City Holdings Inc., a large party supply retailer headquartered in New Jersey, in a deal valued at nearly $11 million. Thomas H. Lee Partners, the Boston investment management firm, acquired a majority stake in Party City last June. For Party City, the proposed purchase will give it a potential foothold in the New England, where it currently does not have a presence. Party City currently has 750 company-owned and franchise locations throughout North America.

Rite Aid, a national pharmacy chain headquartered in Pennsylvania, said it is now offering $45 phone or video consultations with doctors at 20 of its stores in the Boston area, including stores in Braintree, Cambridge, Everett, Medford, South Boston, and Woburn. Working with the Boston telehealth company American Well, Rite Aid is bringing online doctor visits with video, text, chat, and talk to some local Rite Aid pharmacies. Conversations with nurses are complimentary, and a 10-minute consultation with a doctor is $45. The service is called NowClinic Online Care.
Coldwell Banker: New home sells in Belmont for $3.169m
Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in New England said two real estate agents associated with the firm recently sold a newly built home in Belmont for $3.169 million. Citing data from Multiple Listing Service Property Information Network, Coldwell Banker said the sale was the highest priced single-family home to sell in Belmont in the last five years.
The Nemo snow storm put a long Arctic chill on local restaurant sales, firm says
The recent Nemo snow storm took a roughly 35 percent bite out of weekly sales for restaurants located between Boston and Hartford, said Restaurant Sciences, a Newton firm that tracks sales data. It seems logical that a restaurant’s sales would drop when heavy snows keep folks trapped at home and shoveling out their driveways, especially since this particular storm also included a local travel ban. But the firm’s analysis of guest checks showed that many days elapsed before storm-weary locals once again ventured out for restaurant fare.
Mark David is the new CEO of BayPoint Builders
BayPoint Builders, a Newton firm that provides construction management and general contracting services, said that Mark David is its new president and chief executive. Most recently, David was the president of construction at Jones Lang LaSalle, a large real estate firm. David is also a board member and executive committee member of the Associated General Contractors of Massachusetts and a board member and past president of the Massachusetts Building Congress.
Ameresco postpones 4Q, full year earnings release
Ameresco Inc. announced late Thursday afternoon that it is postponing the release of its financial results for the fourth quarter and full year 2012 because it is evaluating the designation of an interest rate swap used in its hedging strategy to manage interest rate risk. Headquartered in Framingham, the company provides energy efficiency and renewable energy services to its customers.
